Wellington, Marlborough and tho West Coast Affected.

Wellington, this day. A smart shock of earthquake was felt here shortly after noon.

Westport, this day, A strong shock of earthquako waa felt here at noon.

Blenueih, this day. A very severe shock of earthquako was experienced here at noon tc-day. The Government buildings and other structures rocked, and considerable alarm was occasioned. The shock laeted seven or eight seconds, and was preceded by several seconds' loud rumbling. No damage is reported. The shock was felt generally throughout the province, and is the heaviest known for many years.

Christchurch, this day. A slight shock of earthquake occurred here about two minutes past noon, duration 4J eeconde. The direction was apparently from N.E to BW. It was felt at Kaikoura and Lyttelton and Akaroa. The weather is fine.
