NARROW ESCAPE OF THE STEAMER HAWEA.

Wejj.i.ncto:*, thiaday. The steamer llawoa, which arrived from Lyttelton this morning, had a narrow escape from running ashoro. Tho weather waa thick and foggy, and .tho vossol going dead slow, when the flood tido carriedhor out of hor course. The captain heaved the lead, and found 90 fathoms, but a fow minutes later found only seventeen fathoms, and saw rooks clone to tho vessel. Ho at once went full speed astern, and managed to get clear. The spot whero tho rocks was scon was Sinclair Head.
