NARROW ESCAPE.
A FEARFULLY narrow escape from a violent death was witnessed in Queen-street shortly after four o'clock yesterday afternoon. At that time in question, a little boy about six years of age, whose name we have been unable to ascertain, was riding on the back step of an omnibuß, when he was observed by the driver, who whipped at him. This had the effect of causing the child to jump off, but in doing so he came in contact with, a horse and spring cart, which were proceeding down the street. He was struck by the horse, and thrown to the ground by. the shock. The wheel passed close to the boy's head, barely grazing it. _ He was picked up by a gentleman passing at the time, and he attended to his injuries, which, fortunately, were not so bad as might have been expected. The danger to children riding behind omnibuses is extremely great, and it should, if possible, be put a stop to before some calamity occurs.
