THE THEATRE ROYAL.
MR CHARLES WHEATLEIGH TO-NIGHT,
Thk popular actor, Mr Charles Wheatleigli, whose great represeaLation of the " Shaugliraun" took all the world and his wife to the Theatre on the occasion of his first proiessional vitjit to Auckland, will appear at the Theatre to-night in an entirely? new piece, entitled, "Round tke world in SO days." This has just b«cn played with immense success in the United States. In San Francisco It ran for eight weeks. The composition is moulded from an interesting story of the same name. It details the startling adventures of a gentleman who, for v wager, undertakes to accomplish the feat mentioned in the title. The wide range of scenery which the tour opens up is taken lull advantage of in the working up of the piece; and as Mr VVillis, the eminent scene painter, has been specially employed in this department during the last fortnight, we may expect something rather out of the common. Of course the principal character, Philiast Fogg, will be taken uy Mr Wheatleigh. The other prominent characters are. Mr .r'ix, an English detective who appeal's in various disguises, and is pourtrayod by Mr George Ijcopold, a wel'-known Victorian actor, Jeun Passepartout, (Mr H. Belton): James O'Reilly, an Irish American, (Mr C. Yerr.or); Mr Brisket, English consular agent at Suez, (Mr Melville', the high priest of Bramah (Mr Robinson; Delmar, the elephant keeper (Mr Searle); Aouoia, widow of the Raiah (Mies Andrews): Ayeslia. her sister, (Mi 93 Henderson): Stewart, (Miss Hendry) : Xancy, (Miss Neliy Daley); and several others, the cast being unusually numerous and strong. The drama, is separated fa to eirhl sensational tableaux, which introduce v* to some of the most remarkable sights of the work1..
