MOANATAIRI.
1 VISITED the mine to-day, and on going down the No. 1 winze on the SO-feet level, I found that the clayey country had almost disappeared from the face, and had given place to a hard, sandstone country. The reef here looks about the same, and appeals to l>c pretty solid, but I did not see any gold. The size of the winze lias been reduced, and for the last few feet is only about two-thirds of its original size. I next visited the eastern drive going through the slide. At the time of my visit the country was good, but I was informed that its quality varies a great deal, it sometimes not being much firmer than sludge, while at other times it is composed of sandstone rock. Several quartz formations have been recently cut through, but they have no continued run, and are composed of very hungry-looking stone. The western drive continues to look about the same, and there is no change in the No. 2 winze nor up in the stopes. At the I*so feet level the southeast cross-cut is in about GO feet. The progress made by the party driving the north-west cross-cut continues to be slow. ALBURN I A. The dividend of 10s per share now declared payable will absorb £4000 of the value of the result of the late crushing. £800 has been allocated to meet current expenses, and the reserve fund of £2000 will be augmented by the addition of £;100 The manager states, that in about a fortnight he will be ready to crush again, and already lie has accumulated some 30 or .''."> tons of rich general stuff, with a parcel of specimens. Stopiug and driving in the battery level are going ahead, and the extension of the Whau level discloses fine golden .-•tone. It has been decided to open the next level by sinking a shaft 2,"> feet from Forstcr's (tributers) boundary, and the next level will have good hacks as the level is intended to be sixty or seventy feet below the Whau level. eriiE. The manager is using all his hands in putting iq> the rise and sinking the win/c----on the No. (j reef to connect the Crown and Caledonian No. 1 levels. This work will be completed shortly, and the manager will have at his disposal a block, which, if it yields as well as the trial parcel promises, the mine will become again a large gold producer. Operations on the No. 2 hide have been temporarily suspended.
