ALL SAINTS, PONSONBY.

The half-yearly Church meeting at All Saints', Ponsonby, took place last evening. The Rev. K. X. Hroo occupied the chair, and about 33 parishioners were present. Mr W.J.Recs, Parish Warden, road the half-yearly statement, which shewed a ''elicit of1 £105 7s lid-, of which £95 wns due to tho minister. The accounts were passed on tho mdtion of Mr Rees, seconded by Alr Davore. Mr ltces then announced his resignation of the oiliees of warden, organist, and choirmaster. Mr Bree informed tho meeting that the next business was to try and find out some means of getting out of their difficulties. Mr Upton proposed, seconded by Mr McKiastry, " That the Comniittee be authorised to borrow £100 from from the Standing Committee to pay olf present, pressing liabilities. Mr Rees supported the motion. Mr Boardman spoke very strongly against the proposition, and gay« tho details of the organ-harmonium trouble. Mr Brae replied. Mr Jakins suggested that while borrowing they might as well go in for a big sum, and buy the organ. Mr Devore opposed borrowing, and suggested that if they borrowed at all, they might as well borrow another £100. and provide for future liabilities. He requested Mr Bree] to state the reason of the unpleasantness which had existed in the Committee during the last six mouths. Mr ]iree explained that it originated from the harmionium being brought into the church without authority, and suggested that as the Committee did not seem to have the confidence of the parishioners they had better resign in a body. The bulk of the Committee then resigned. Mr Recs defended his action respecting the harmonium. Dr. liayntun proposed as an amendment on Mr Upton's motion, that £300 be borrowed, and the organ secured, and suggested that say forty people should put down their names for one shilling a week towards paying tor it.—Mr Lambert, said it would be betteV to send home for a new organ, and in the meanwhile subscribe the money.—Mr Upton's motion was then put and negatived. Dr. Bayntun's motion lapsed for want of a seconder.—A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Rees for his services as Churchwarden, and a campliment was paid him for the way tho books had been kept, On the proposal of Mr Dovore, seconded by Mr Masefield, Mr Grainger took the names of those present who were willing to subscribe towards the discharg-e of their liabilities.— About £32 was guaranteed in the room. As this was insufficient, it was proposed by Mr Masefield and seconded by Mr Rees, that the £100 be borrowed from the Standing Committee £-'5 to be paid off quarterly. This was carried. The election of "Vestrymen for the ensuing year was than proceeded with. Mr Payne, junr., informed the meeting that he had not resigned his seat in the vestry. Dr. Bayntun, Messrs Ashton Upton, and Dacre were elected. Mr Masefield was elected parish warden on the proposition of Mr Ashton, seconded by Mr Upton.—Mr Hammond called attention to the necessity of repairing and painting the church, which is in p riunou« condition in parts.—.4 vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the meeting.
