WOOL SALE.
TrtE wool which lias been unshioped from the City of Auckland during the lasb few days was yesterday disposed of at the Breakwater, by auction, by Mr. Stannus Jones. There was also a quantity of flax sold. Of course, both wool and flax were considerably damaged —some by water, some by fire, and some by both. But, notwithstanding the conflagration that must have raged for many hours in the hold of the vessel, and the soaking to which it was afterwards subjected, there is a considerable quantity that is not materially damaged, and which will be ready for shipment after being again thoroughly washed. There were about 150 bales of wool disposed of altogether, and Messrs. Nathan and Co. were the principal buyers. The prices obtained ranged from 2cl. to 7fd., according to the amount of damage done. The flax sold brought 9s the bale. The kauri gum —of which there is a very large quantity stacked upon the wharf—has not yet been-disposed of.
