A DRY OCTOBER The month of October promises to be very dry as up to the present only 36 points have fallen on four days. Such scattered rain is of little permanent value. Last year up to October 19, 1.25 inches had fallen and over two inches more were recorded before the end of the month, making a total of 3.38 inches. In 1937 only 80 points fell in October while in 1936 only 71 points fell and we have to go back to 1935 for a lall of 5.84 inches in October. , Showers in the month of October are pa. ticularly beneficial to pastures and gardens and also to the. cocksfoot paddocks.
