BREAD,
I To the Editor. Sir. —An '' Anxious Mother " has done us tome service by drawing attention to the price of bread in Akaroa. Sl)b is quite wrong, however, fla to the profits being stated at 33 per cent. How did eha hit on this ? it looks like a lucky number, but, unlucky for the consumers, I find the profits are quite 50 per cent. Best roller flour can bo landed here at £11 per ton. A ton of good flour will produce on an average 900 four pound loaves, at 7u\ £26 sa. This is without potatoes and other seasoning to taste. Every man is entitled to a fair profit. The yeast is at present too strong and has risen too high. lam sorry to hear that premises intended to be occupied by the co operative bakery will not be available until Ist of August, when praeent tenant's lease expires. However, better late than never says,—Yours, etc.. AN ANGRY FATHER.
