HOCKEY

. Alexandra D.H.S. v. Clyde. A good deal of interest was centred in the meeting of the above two teams which met at Alexandra on Saturday. The home team were successful by 4 goals to nil. The game was more even than the score indicates. It was a fast aad furious struggle between two experienced teams. Clyde were in the School eircle more often than the home side were in the Clyde scoring territory. However, the School scoring machine was 'working to better advantage and never missed anf opportunity. The scorers were Norma Beilby 2 and P. Hesson 2. Messrs W. K. George and W. Hewitt were the referees. Alexandra B v. Lowburn. Alexandra B's were successful in their match against Lowburn which was also played at Alexandra. The score was 12 goals to nil.-

The Alexandra District High School hockey team is to be congratulated, on its performances while in Dune din. Besides winning the B grade cup, at the seven-a-side tournament, the team played its annual match with Columba on June 4, the result being a win for School with the score 2 —nil.

During the morning the Columba exgirls provided cars in which the teams were taken round Dunedin and then to the Higheliff Cafe for morning tea. The match was a keen one although the Alexandra girls did most of the attacking, and the score would no doubt have been mueh higher but for the splendid play of the Columba goalkeeper.

THE TEAM. Those who made the trip were: B. Stevens, P. Hesson, B. Hesson, N. Beilby, M. Beilby, 8. Cameron (capt), B. Boland, B. Turner, M. Banning, A. Aruott, A. Nicolson. At 5.30 p.m. the visiting team was, entertained at tea at the College. After the usual speeches the girls were shown over the College before being taken to the Empire Pictures. A most enjoyable day came to an end with supper at the Vedic. A tired but jubilant team returned to Alexandra next day to be met by friends and schoolmates who gave them a rousing reception. - —Seven-a-side Tournament.— Team:—M. Beilby, B, Hesson, N. Beilby, S.
