(owu Correspondent). Ho far the season is all that could be desired, and farmers both in this and Millers Flat district assert that it is the best they have experienced for four years. The usual anniversary ball of the Foresters Lodge was held on Thursday last. The attendance, though not so large as on former occasions, was very satisfactory, and an enjoyable night's dancing was afforded. The music was supplied by Miss M'Mulliu (piano) and Messrs lloggiero and M'Elligott (violins) and Mercer (cornet). On the following evening a children's social was held and was patronised by almost every juvenile of lioxburgh. Cakes and sweets of all descriptions were handed round and the children had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The Fruitgrowers' Association held a special meeting on Monday last, to consider quotations for a supply of casing timber. Several quotations were received, and it was rosolved that Messrs M'Kenzie and Sons' teuder be accepted. Messrs Bennetts and Vealo were appointed delegates to attend the conference of growers at Wellington in November.
