Wedding Bells.
PEAKE-M'QUEEN. A wedding of considerable interest loctlly >vas celebrated on Wednesday afternoon last at the residence of the bride's parents, Alexandra, when Miss Alice Emily, eldest daughter of Mr James M'Queen, of this town, was united in the bonds of holy wedlock to Mr George Alfred, youngest son of Mr J. F. Peake, of Leitb street, Dunedin. The ceremony was performed in the drawing room by the Rev. W. A.. R. Fitchett, in the presence of a large circle of relations and friends of the contracting parties. The bride entered the room on the arm of her father, and was attended by three bridesmaids— Miss Florence Williams, the Misses Edith and Doris M'Queen (sisters of the bride). Mr Torrence Cuddie, of Dunedin, filled the role of best man. The bride was attired in a becoming dress of white Indian lawn, trimmed with guipure lace and white satin ribbons. Her tulle veil was pinned to her hair with a wreath of orange blossom. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white roses and gyspholia. Miss Williams wore a dainty Persian lawn -dress, relieved with a sash of floral silk ribbon; whilst the smaller bridesmaids were dressed in very smart frocks of white silk. The three bridesmaids all carried bouquets, and wore gold brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom. After the wedding ceremony the guests adjourned to a large marquee, where a very jolly repast was enjoyed by all. Toasts appropriate to the occasion were duly honored, that of " the happy couple " being proposed by Mr F. Williams in felicitous terms Mr and Mrs M'Queen received their guests in the hall, Mrs M'Queen being attired in a handsome dress of green chiffon silk, prettily trimmed with cream silk insertion. Mrs Peake (mother of the bridegroom) wore a grey, tailormade costume, with hat to match ; Mrs Outred (grandmother or' the bride), black silk dress ; Mrs Monk (aunt of bride), white muslin over heliotrope. Lite in the afternoon the happy couple drove to Clvde and travelle I to Dunedin on the following morning, the bride wearing a dark green tailormade costume and pale blue bat. The newlywedded pair were the recipients of numerous and costly presents, including several cheques, and congratulations and good wishes were extended to them from far and near.
