SALE OF STATE AIRLINE

ENGLISH COMPANIES INTERESTED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 21. A report in English newspapers that the New Zealand National Airways Corporation is for sale has brought the managing directors of two big airline companies to the Dominion, not to bid for the corporation, but to investigate and possibly tender for the Cook Strait air freight section. The executives are Air Commodore G. J. Powell, of Silver City Airways, and Mr M. Wyatt, of Air Work, Ltd., both of London. They arrived by flying-boat to-day. Their companies specialise in air freight work. Silver City Airways operates to France with Bristol Freighters, and Air Work, Ltd., the biggest charter company in England, runs freight and passenger services in Britain.
