“REGULATION STRIKE”

POSTMEN IN SYDNEY (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. City and suburban postmen are carrying out their “regulation strike" to-day and to-morrow as part of the campaign by the Postal Workers’ Union for a wage increase. Postmen will stick rigidly to regulations, some of which are that letters must be delivered only to an addressee or his authorised agent (proof of authorisation being necessary); that letter bags must be opened and closed upon each delivery; that postmen with cycles must not ride on footpaths, and that bicycles must be locked when left unattended. The acting Deputy-Director of Posts and Telegraphs comments: “Careful compliance with the Post Office regulations will do nothing but improve the delivery service to the public.”
