FARMER’S BODY FOUND
BULLET WOUND IN HEAD , (P.A.) DANNEVIRKE, August 15. A Pongaroa farmer, Mr W. Pickett, aged 43, married, with two children, was found dead with a bullet wound in the head behind the cowshed on his property. .... - It is presumed that the accident occurred when Mr Pickett, who is believed to have left his house early on Monday morning to go opossum shooting, was getting through a fence. He had arranged with a neighbour to drive to Pcibiatua, on Monday to bring home his wife, who had been in hospital. WATERSIDER DIES OF INJURIES STRUCK BY.COAL TRUCK (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 15. A waterside worker, J. B. Brankshaw, of Newtown, Wellington, received fatal internal injuries when he was struck by a heavy coal truck_ at the Railway Wharf to-day. Mr Brankshaw died in an ambulance on the ” way to hospital.
