FIRE AT METHVEN

Valuable Tractors Lost The Methven Volunteer Fire Brigade received a call about 7.45 p.m. on Monday to a fire in a shed on Mr P. Quinn’s property . at Highbank, about six miles from Methven. The brigade were promptly on the scene, although valuable minutes were lost in loading the fire-fighting plant on to a motor car. The fire had a good hold when the brigade arrived, and as the water supply was difficult of access, they could not save the building or the contents, but prevented any further spread to other buildings. Mr D. Quinn lost a tractor valued at about £6OO, on which there was no insurance, and Mr P. Quinn a tractor and a header valued at over £IOOO, but there was some insurance on these and the building. There is no explanation as to the cause of the fire. The tractors were put away at about 6.15 p.m. and everything was then in order.
