WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

MEETING AT TINWALD There tvas a good attendance of members at the June meeting of the Tinwald Women’s Institute. The meeting opened with the singing of the W.I. song, and the motto for the day, “Do not dodge difficulties—meet them, greet them, beat them,” was read by Mrs Henderson. A motion of sympathy with several members was expressed by those present. Mrs Bartram gave a very interesting talk on her trip out from England, and this w r as enjoyed by all. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker by members. Mrs Johnston- reported that four members had attended the Wakanui birthday party, and had had a happy afternoon. An invitation was received to attend Fairton Institute’s nine teenth birthday party. The roll call, “My Pet Superstition,” was answered by all present.

The hostesses were Mesdames Allen, Barr, and Lowery. House points Hvere as follow:—Red House 39, White House 61, Blue House 21. Competition results for the month were:—Best bloom, Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs Johnston 2, Mrs Rodd 3; oneegg cake, Mrs L. Colville 1, Mrs Rodd 2, Mrs Gluestein 3; vase mixed flowers, Mrs S. Millar 1, Mrs Rodd 2, Mrs Gluestein 3; child’s cardigan, Mrs Stevenson 1. Mrs Barr 2, Mrs Henderson 3.
