TINWALD TOWN BOARD
BUS TERMINUS FAVOURED The monthly jneeting of the Tinwald Town Board was held last evening, when there were present Messrs H. B. Millichamp (chairman), R. J. Tarbotton, G. Glassey, A. C. Wakelin and J. H. Harper. A vote of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr “VVilliam Bryant, who for many years-was a member of the Towh Board. . The South Island Publicity Association wrote asking if the board was prepared to contribute toward its funds, such a levy to be based bn a population basis. It was resolved to contribute as suggested, the amount being £3. The Ashburton Junior Chamber of Commerce asked for the board’s views on a proposal to establish a bus terminus in Ashburton and invited a representative to attend a meeting on June 29.
It faas decided to reply that the board favours the proposal of a bus terminus, and Mr G. Glassey was appointed to attend the meeting. The Post and Telegraph Department advised that as a result of the board’s representations it had been decided to erect a posting box at the corner of the Main South Road and Agnes Street.
An appointment of a representative of the Ashburton Electric-PoAver Board to fill the vacancy caused through the death of the late Mr William Bryant was held over until the next meeting*
