DR. MALAN HELPED TO SAFETY

(Rec. 10.30) CAPE TOWN, June 20. Firemen helped the Prime Minister, Dr. Daniel Malan, and his adopted daughter, Marietjie to safety from an outside balcony when fire broke out in his residence here early to-day. Mrs Malan escaped from the smokefilled house, unassisted. The fire, which broke out in one of the bedrooms, did only slight damage to the furniture before the fire brigade put it out.
