FIRE UNDER CONTROL
OUTBREAK ON US. SHIP (Rec. 10.15) NEW YORK, April 11. The United States Lines freighter American Producer reported to-day that the stubborn smouldering fire in its hold had been brought under control 540 miles off the Newfoundland The vessel was proceeding to Halifax, Nova Scotia. ' The coastguard, said the American Producer had dismissed the coastguard escort which put a fire fighting detail aboard the ship last night after the freighter had appealed for aid in fighting the fire.- >
