DOCTORS’ SERVICES NOT AVAILABLE

UNSUCCESSFUL CALLS BY WHANGAREI POLICE (P.A.) WHANGAREI, April 11. Police calls to seven Whangarei doctors went unheeded on Saturday. All the doctors telephoned were not spoken to, but those who were gave excuses for not going to the police station. This was stated in the Magistrate’s Court t6-day by Senior Sergeant J. Sutherland in explaining why a man charged with having been intoxicated in charge of a motor-car had not been medically examined. The man Was Allan Royal Fell, aged 42, a carpenter, who admitted the charge. Senior-Sergeant Sutherland said that Fell had not been medically examined because the police had not been able to get the services of a doctor. For Fell, Mr A. M. Steadman said that Fell had admitted at the station that he had been intoxicated. Fell was fined £lO.
