METHVEN FOOTBALL CLUB

TEAMS IN ALL GRADES Mr Jas. Lilley presided at the annual meeting of members of the Methven Football Club when there was a very good attendance. The annual report stated that the club had enjoyed a very successful season from a playing point of view, and also socially and financially. ' The club did not win any competitions, but teams in all grades gave a good account of themselves. This was due in large measure to the band of coaches, to whom thanks were due. The club’s building fund is in a sound position, and it will soon be possible to go ahead with building improvements. Lilley; vice-presidents, Messrs R. McCormick (senior) and E. Kilworth (junior); lion, secretary, Mr R. G. Holmes; assistant secretary, Mr D. Wootton; lion, treasurer, Mr W. F. Carr; club captain, Mr C. Dickson;, committee, Messrs C. Wilson, D. McDonald, T. McGirr, A. Anderson, A. McLeod, P. Holmes, C. Body, W. Walsh; coaches, senior, R. Norton; junior to be appointed; third grade, Mr C. Dickson; fourth grade, Mr F. McGirr; delegates to Ashburton Rugby Union, Messrs D. McDonald, R. Lilley, R. Wootton and W. F. Carr; representative to management committee, Mr R. Lilley; vice-president of Rugtjy Union, Mr R. Lilley. It was decided to enter teams in the senior, junior, third and fourth grade Ashburton Rugby Union competitions. Subscriptions were fixed at 12s for seniors, lils for juniors, 8s for thirdgrade and 7s fourth grade, these amounts to cover insurance and subscription. It was agreed to hold a working bee on March 19 and to hold the official opening day on April 1.
