SOUTH-EASTERLY CHANGE A south-easterly change in conditions developed in Ashburton to-day, and after bright sunshine early this morning, the sky clouded heavily and at 1 o’clock this afternoon temperatures were mild. Recordings taken at 9 o'clock* this morning were: Maximum temperature 70.0 degrees, minimum 52.0 degrees, earth 56.8 degrees, - barometer 29.44 inches. The sun shone for 10.7 hours yesterday. OUTLOOK FAIR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General situation: A deep depression is passing to the south of New Zealand. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: — Fresh to strong south-west %vinds at first, but winds variable to-morrow Weather fair; temperatures cool. Further outlook: Fair.
