QUEEN MARY’S CARPET
SHIPMENT TO AMERICA (Rec. 10 a.m.) LONDON, March 14. Queen M.ary’s hand-made carpetpresented to the nation to help Britain’s dollar drive —will sail for America in the liner Queen Mary. The carpet, in a 400 cwt steel-lined oak chest guarded by police, was put in the Queen Mary’s strongroom today. The carpet was brought from London to Southampton in one of the Royal household’s shooting brakes. After the carpet has been shown in the United States and Canada, a committee will consider bfds made for it. Queen Mary has made a condition of sale that the carpet must go to a public institution.
