BELGIAN THRONE

PRIME MINISTER SEES KING M (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) GENEVA, March 14. The Belgian Prime Minister, M. Gaston Eyskens, arrived in Geneva this morning, and later saw King Leopold, who is staying at his Alesdie villa at Pregny, outside Geneva. M. Eyskens has journeyed to Geneva to discuss with the King the situation following the Belgian referendum, which showed a majority of per cent, for the return of the King to the Throne. After being with the King for an hour and a half, M. Eyskens returned to his hotel, and said he would wait there for a further summons to see King Leopold. Reuter’s Rome correspondent says Vatican circles are believed to favour King Leopold’s abdication in favour of his eldest son, Prince Baudouin.. Unofficial sources said the feeling was that only abdication in favour of the young Prince would heal the wounds of the past 10 years.
