AUSTRALIANS MAY FIGHT IN NEW ZEALAND AUCKLAND OFFICIAL TO VISIT SYDNEY (P.A.) AUCKLAND, March 10. To sign Australian professionals for fights in New Zealand, Mr C. Rex Moore, president of the Auckland Boxing Association, will visit Sydney next month. He will see, among others, Era McQuillan, manager of the worldclass aborigine light-weight, Jack Hassen. On Mr Mpore’s visiting 'list in Australia also are Tom Maguire, manager of the Empire middle-weight champion, Dave Sands, and Herb McHugh, manager of the Leichardt Stadium. Aslfed yesterday if he intended to try to sign Hassen, Mr Moore was noncommittal. He said, however, that a year or so ago McQuillan had expressed willingness to bring Hassen to New Zealand if the price was right. The fighters he was seeking, Mr Moore said, were those who could be matched with New Zealanders. His association might consider, however, matching Australians with Australians. He did not, intend, to offer Australians long-term contracts for a series of fights. The idea was for the boxers to travel to Auckland by air a few days before a fight and return to Sydney immediately afterwards.
