RALLY CONCLUDED
FINAL DAY’S ACTIVITY
The inter-club caravan rally held in the Ashburton Domain during the week-end concluded last evening. Inclement weather resulted in the abandoning of the sports meeting, but the principal event, the inter-club tug-o’-war was held yesterday, and resulted in a win for the Canterbury team. The Casbolt Pennant for _ this event was presented by the president of the South Canterbury club (Mr M. Raymond) to the donor (Mr E. S. Casbolt) who is president of the Canterbury club. A variety concert was held in the Domain pavilion on Saturday, and this proved exceedingly popular and aroused much enthusiasm. During the week-end, several caravaners paid tribute to the generosity of the Borough Council, the Curator (Mr A. F. Morgan) and the caretaker of the grounds in placing all available amenities for use of campers. Ihe beauty' of the surroundings was also commented on, and the only complaint was the “Ashburton” weather.
