CONFESSION BY FUCHS
SENATOR McMAHON “SHOCKED” (11.5) WASHINGTON, March 10. The British scientist, Dr. Klaus Fuchs, had given Russia information on the hydrogen bomb, said Senator Brien McMahon," chairman of the Congressional Atomic Energy Committee, after the committee had to-day read Fuchs’s full confession for the first time. The committee met • behind closed doors, with the United States Atomic Energy Commission members, to discuss the confession of Fuchs, a Ger-man-born scientist now serving 14 years for violating the British Official Secrets Act. Senator McMahon, who declined to disclose any details, said he was “shocked” at what he had read in the confession, which the Federal Bureau of Investigation obtained from the British Government. The Atomic Energy Committee was interested in the description of everything Fuchs had given the Russians, including information on the hydrogen bomb. Senator McMahon said.
