STATE OF TENSION
REPUBLICS OP HAITI AND DOMINICA WASHINGTON, Jan. 3. The Government of Haiti has invoked the Rio De Janeiro Mutual Defence Treaty against the Dominican Republic charging it with complicity in assassination and arson. The Haitian Embassy to-day said the charges were presented in a Note to the chairman of the Organisation of American States. The Note accused President Rafael Trujillos’ Dominican Government of effectively participating in a plot on December 19 to kill the president and other high officials of Haiti and of setting fire to Port au Prince, the Haitian capital. The plot was frustrated by the Haitian authorities. _ „ The Note requested the Council ot ; the Organisation of American States to be convoked immediately to weigh the charges and recommend corrective action.
