FIFTY YEARS SYNE (From the “Guardian,” Jan. 4, 1900), Photography—Mr F. Cooper has parted with the photographic business conducted by him for some years past in the Vandyke Studios, in Saunders Buildings, his successors being the firm of Messrs Halma and Company.— Dairy Produce: The cargo of the steamer Rakaia, which has left Wellington for London, included 924 tons of butter and 273 tons of cheese from all ports. ‘ TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO I (From the “Guardian,” Jan. 4, 1925). New Roller—The trial of the Ashburton Borough Council’s new road roller and scarifier, which was to have taken place to-day, has been postponed for a week, owing to the full staff being required on the roads to repair the potholes made during the recent bad weather: The new machine was assembled last week, and is now in the council’s yard—Cycling: An Ashburton cyclist, H. W. Cant, competing at the Waihora Sports Club’s meeting at Motukarara on Saturday, won the one-mile Consolation handicap, off 130 yards.
