ANONYMOUS WARNING
BOMB PLACED/ IN CAR THREAT TO MR GOOSMAN (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 3. A police warning that anonymous information had been received that a time bomb would be placed in his motor-car was issued to the Minister of Works (the Hon. W. S. Goosman) on Sunday night. Mr and Mrs Goosman, who have been spending the Christmas and New Year season in Auckland, are staying at the Grand Hotel and their car has been parked outside the front entrance. . • The Superintendent of Police at Auckland /Mr S. G. Hall), said to-night that the information had been received from a telephone caller, who sounded to be drunk, by the Mount Albert police. They had passed the message on to the detective staff in Auckland. Detectives had communicated with Mr Goosman at the hotel and had taken the necessary precautions. “I just laughed when I received the message,” said Mr Goosman to-night. “They do not do that sort of thing in this country and I did not think any more about it.” He added that it was probably a hoax or the act of a crank.
