ESPIONAGE CHARGE
RESETTLING OF REFUGEES
NEW YORK, Nov. 10
Russia to-day Accused the Western Powers, of recruiting displaced persons and refugees for espionage.
Mr Alexander Panyushkin, thp Soviet delegate,' told the United Nations Social Committee: “Hundreds of thousands of Soviet citizens have been transported to the United States, Britain, France, Belgium, and South America against their will. They are being utilised primarily for espionage in various intelligence services.” Mr Panyushkin denied a Yugoslav accusation that Yugoslav students in Russia were prevented from returning to their own country. The charge was “a. provocative act by the representative of the Tito clique.” A sharp reply came from the Yugoslav delegate (Mr Vladiipir Dedijer), who said: “I am proud of being a member of Tito’s clique. The Soviet representative knows we are strong. If we hadn’t been they would have been able to subjugate us.”
