DEPENDENCY AREAS (Rec. 9.50 a.m.) NEW-YORK, Nov. 11. Over-riding . protests by Britain, France and other Colonial Powers, the United Nations Trusteeship Committes has approved extension" of the life of the special committee for examining information on dependent territories.
The special committee also has the power to make recommendations to the General Assembly. Forty-one nations yesterday approved an Indian resolution providing for the General Assembly to decide, in 1952, whether the special committee shall be established &z a permanent organisation of United Nations. Meanwhile, the committee will continue to examine information of the economic, social and educational conditions among the 200,000,000 inhabitants of the world’s dependent areas.
Only “ Britain,; France, Belgium and South Africa opposed the Indian resolution. New Zealand and Greece abstained. , s
