PLAN FOR PEACE
SPEECH BY VYSHINSKY (Rec. 10.30) NEW YORK, Nov. 10. Instead of reading a prepared speech berating American plans for world dominion, Mr Vyshinsky, addressing the National Council of AmericamSoviet Friendship in New York, made a strong plea for peace.
He said: “We stand for peace and equality between nations, and Socialism.” '
Noting it was the 16th anniversary of Soviet-American relations, Mr Vyshinsky said: “It is an important friendship, because friendly relations between these two countries is the best guarantee of peace* throughout the world. We appreciate your efforts to prevent disruption of that friendship.” He added that Soviet delegates attended the current session of the United Nations Assembly “to hrove that mankind wants peace and that all people, all over the world, hate war and want it killed at the very beginning.” Mr Vyshinsky spoke for *7O minutes in a jovial and suave manner. The Council of Airibrican-Soviet Friendship is on the United States Government’s list of subversive organisations.
