ASHBURTON SEAT
MR ROSE'S CAMPAIGN
Following the meeting in Ashburton, addressed by the Hon. Minister of Education, the official Labour candidate, Mr W, E. Rose, has continued his campaign in the country districts. There have been fairly large and attentive audiences at all meetings, with few interjections but numerous questions at the end of most meetings. Mr Rose addressed electors at Seafield and Wakanui on Tuesday, at Lyndhurst on Wednesday, and at Arundel and Peel Forest on Thursday. At Lyndhurst' the speaker stressed the importance of wheat production in Canterbury and gave his views on that question as well as on general policy. In introducing the candidate at Peel Forest, the chairman, Mr J. Acland, a former M.P., stated that country people were taking a real interest in the election, more so, he thought, than was the case, generally, in the towns.
