PURCHASE OF FURNITURE A CONDITION i (PA) WELLINGTON, Aug. 21 The Rev. Clyde Carr (Government, Timaru) gave notice in the House of Representatives to-day to ask the Minister of Labour (the Hon. A. MeLagan) if he had read in a Wellington newspaper the letter of a correspondent drawing attention to the advertising of flats or houses to let on condition that the tenant bought furnitUThe letter alleged that the furniture was often of inferior quality, or that the premises were let furnished and a higher rent, charged for a lot of “junk.” Mr Carr asked the Minister to consider amending the Act to give the tenant the right to either sell the fuiniture at the sale-room price for the benefit of the landlord or to pay interest and depreciation only on the real value.
