CHILD'S LIFE SAVED
(PA.) WAIROA, August 22. Prompt action by Mr Howard Piesse yesterday saved the life of Dean Strachan, aged six, the son of Mr and Mrs D. H. Strachan, of Wairoa, when he fell through the decking of the town wharf into the water. Anotlici schoolboy raised the alarm and Mr Piesse dived in fully clothed, and brought the boy, who suffered from severe shock, to safety. man breaks arm while TIGHTENING NUT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 22. While using liis right hand to tighten a nut on a lawnmower, Frederick James Waite, greenkeeper at the Onehunga Bowling Club, broke his left arm When he applied pressure to the wrench he “felt something explode in the upper left arm. He thought he had twisted the nerves but next morning went to the Middlemore Hospital, where a provisional diagnosis was fracture of the left humerus.
