OBITUARY
MRS AMY ISABEL WOOD The death occurred in Christchurch yesterday, of Mrs Amy Isabel Wood, widow of Mr Derisley Wood, and a former resident of Ashburton.
Mr Wood was the proprietor of the Canterbury Roller Flour Mills and he and Mrs Wood spent their early married life in this town, leaving to reside in Christchurch 25 years ago. During the Great War, in 1914-18, Mrs Wood, as president of the Red Cross Society, did outstanding work in organising the Red Cross branches throughout the town and district and, as well, was the leader in women’ll organisations in other war efforts. She, also, was a member of St. Stephen s Church and the Ladies’ Guild, the Plunket Society (president for some years), and the Golf Club.
