BUDGET DEBATE THIS EVENING
UPPER HOUSE BILL NOT TO BE DISCUSSED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 23. Before the House of Representatives rose at 10.30 this evening the Leader of the Opposition (Mr S. G. Holland) asked the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) if the debate would be continued to-morrow evening. Mr, Fraser nodded and said “Yes.” . Mr Holland: I wondered if the member for Waimarino might go on with his speech. Mr Holland was referring to the Legislative Council Abolition Bill, on which Mr P. Kearins made an unexpected intervention last week. Although ho would like to oblige the member for Waimarino. the Budget debate would lie continued, replied Mr Fraser.
