BOY DROWNED AFTER CANOE CAPSIZES
TWO OTHERS RESCUED FROM RIVER (P.A.) THAMES, August 22. A 12-year-old boy, Roger Kent, was drowned in the Wailiou River yesterday. Two other boys who were in difficulties were rescued. Roger Kent and Golin Nicholson, aged 14, went out in a canoe, which capsized. The boys were seen to he in difficulties' by another hoy, Kaels Watene. He went, to their rescue ill a small boat. Nicholson was trying to scramble aboard when the- boat overturned. ' Hearing calls for help, Mr W. S. Gray and Eddie Watene, a brother of Kaels, rushed to help the boys. They managed to rescue Golin Nicholson and Kaels Watene, both of whom were exhausted, but Kent had disappeared.
