UNUSUAL DISPLAY
METEORITE OVER ASHBURTON Travelling almost horizontally and at a remarkably low altitude, — a meteorite of unusual brilliance was observed by several Ashburton residents about S o’clock last ..evening. Typically comet-like in shape, the meteorite had an exceptionally largo head of fire and a very long tail of blue green and white sparks. It travelled from east tyo west, and was so low that, from one vantage point, it appeared directly behind some topped populars which are under 25 feet high. For an appreciable period after it, was obscured by trees, the glow from the meteorite could still bo plainly seen,
