LIBERATION OF PARIS
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION (Rec. 11 a.m.) PARIS, Aug. 21. The police drew batons to-night when a crowd tried to march through the city streets after a ceremony at the Montparnasse railway station to mark the fifth anniversary of the liberation of Paris. Police in. cars and on motor-cycles formed a solid barrier against the marchers. Thousands of gaily-dressed Parisians thronged the square in front of the station. Several hundred police tried to enforce an order confining the demonstration to the square. Exservicemen marched past carrying slogans for peace and freedom.
