LORRY BLOWS UP
13 Persons Killed (Rec. 11 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, Aug. 21 Thirteen persons were killed to day whfen a lorry loaded with gelignite collided with a train at a level crossing near Ndola, in Northern Rhodesia. Two Europeans and 11 Africans were killed and 17 Africans were sent to hospital seriously injured. A few scraps of twisted iron were all that remained of the lorry when the gelignite exploded. The locomotive and three trucks of the train were blown to bits, and a section of the track was ripped out bf the ground. Parts were found more than a mile away. The victims were the locomotive driver, three people on the train, the crossing keeper, seven men in the lorry, and another man.
