STOLEN JEWELS
RETURN IN EXCHANGE FOR REWARD (Rec. 10.5) CASABLANCA, Aug. 18. An offer to hand over to the Begum and the Aga Khan the stolen jewels in return for the reward offered by the Begum and the insurers was made today in a letter received by the editor of a Moroccan evening newspaper. The letter, which has been handed to the police, was signed with initials. It said the writer had the most important part of the jewels in his possession, and would return them if the reward was paid. “If the police make an appointment through your paper with the assurance asked for, we may be able to come to terms.” The Begum’s jewels were stolen on August 3 by armed hold-up men who stopped the Aga Khan’s car in Cannes. —Reuter. \
