RIOT AT CYCLE RACES
Police Fire on Crowd
(Rec. 11.5 a.m.) BERLIN, April 18 According to the German News Agency Dena East sector police opened fire when a crowd of 30,000 people watching a cycle race ran amok. The riot began with a demonstration against organisers of the races. Spectators were beaten up, box offices overturned and the crowd was completely out of hand. The police tried to arrest one man andi fired shots when other people intervened. - The angry crowd then tfirned on the police, and the police had to jump into their cars to escape. The agency did not say whether anyone was injured by the shots. —Reuter.
