(Rec. 11 .a.m.) NEW YORK, April 18. The keel of the G5,000-ton übb United States, the world’s largest air-craft-carrier, was laid at Newport Ne .vs to-day. No ceremony attended the. start of construction of the 186,000,000 dollar carrier, which has been_ the centre of strong controversy between the Air Force and tlie Navy.
