Margaret Allen, a 42-year-old spinster, was executed at Strangeways Gaol, Manchester. She was the first woman to go to the scaffold in Britain since 11)30.
Allen, a former bus conductor of Rawtenstall, Lancashire, was found guilty on December S, of the murder of Nancy Ellen Chadwick, a OS-year-old widow.
