Mr and Mrs J. D. Baxter, of Hastings, are visiting Ashburton. Mr Baxter, who is manager of one of the picture theatres in Hastings, was prior to going there, manager of St. James Theatre, Ashburton.
When interviewed by “The Timaru Herald” yesterday, Mr Jack Acland announced that he would not consent to his name being submitted as a prospective National Party candidate for Timaru or any other electorate at this year’s general election.
