AUSTRALIAN SHEET METAL
NO INCREASES TO NEW ZEALAND SYDNEY; January 11. Lysaghts Proprietary, the only producers of sheet metal in Australia, have advised that New South Wales will receive less sheet metal this year than in 1948. This includes galvanised iron and black steel sheets. The building industry is already short of galvanised iron and guttering. The secretary of the Master Plumbers and Sanitary Engineers’ Association (Mr M. Murphy) said that the position was worse than at any time during the war. Exports to New Zealand might be maintained at last year’s level, but increases were out of the question. ,
