MR BRIGGS WINS BY 67 VOTES CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Mr F. G. Briggs, the Labour candidate, was successful in the mayoral election held at Lyttelton yesterday, defeating the Independent candidate, Mr F. E. Sutton, by 887 votes to 820.
The by-election was caused by Mr Briggs’s resignation some weeks ago. When Mr Briggs was elected previously he beat Mr F. H. Heal by 797 votes to 676.
